ABOUT – Hauk Jacobsson Røsten
Hauk Jacobsson Røsten (1989) is an Oslo based composer, songwriter, singer, guitarist, choir and ensemble leader and conductor, film composer, arranger and music producer, writing commissions and arrangements for all types of ensembles and genres.
Hauk holds a bachelor's degree in Musicology from the University of Oslo (2009-2012), with additional education in jazz composition for large ensembles from the Norwegian Academy of Music (2020-2021) and film music composition from Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences (2022-2023).
His works and arrangements have been performed/recorded by Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra (KORK), Trondheim Symphony Orchestra (TSO), The Norwegian Wind Ensemble (DNBE), Norwegian Academy of Music’s Big Band (NMH Big Band), Oslobanden, Fredensborg vokalensemble and various other ensembles.
Hauk has extensive experience in the voluntary and professional music scene, with 15 years of involvement in choirs and various bands as a guitarist and vocalist, covering a wide range of genres including folk, classical, contemporary, jazz, pop, and metal. He has sung regularly in Schola Cantorum (conductor Tone Bianca Sparre Dahl), one of Norway's leading chamber choirs, since completing Toneheim Folkehøyskole in 2009. There, he has served several years on the board and is currently in his third year as chairman, where he has gained significant leadership experience, including handling applications, reports, networking, and managing professional concert productions and tours, both locally and internationally.
Since the pandemic, Hauk has mainly worked as a freelancer, focusing on children and youth as a vocal instructor and music producer for children's theater, youth musicals, and school revues. He has composed and arranged music for big bands, choirs, and orchestras across various styles and levels, and has produced digital music for theater, revues, and films. Additionally, he has led his own choir over the past year as conductor and arranger.
